Course Overview

This diploma trains students to perform objective and subjective refraction, measure visual acuity, detect common refractive errors, assist optometrists in clinical refraction and prepare spectacle prescriptions. Graduates are prepared for roles in clinics, eye camps and optical outlets.

Duration

1 year (typical); can be structured as 1 year full-time or 2 semesters. Some institutes run 6–12 month accelerated certificates; our diploma follows a full practical schedule (lab + clinical attachments).

Eligibility

Minimum secondary school (10+2) with Science preferred; equivalent mature applicants may be considered.

  • Clinical Instruments & Maintenance (slit lamp basics, ophthalmoscope)
  • Patient communication, recordkeeping & ethics
  • Clinical Practicum — supervised refraction sessions (minimum clinical hours)
  • Final practical and theory assessment

Assessment & Certification

Continuous assessment, practical competency checks and final theory exam. Certificate issued by Future Vision Center; pathway advice provided for external credentialing where applicable.
